Struggling to balance work and caring for a sick family member? Get your carer’s certificate sorted fast with Instant Consult, no matter the time and wherever you are in Australia, so you can focus on what really matters - your family.

What is a Carer’s Certificate?

A Carer’s Certificate is an essential document for when you need to take time off work to care for an immediate family member or household member who’s unwell. This certificate is similar to a medical certificate but is specifically for carers. It’s particularly important as it supports the entitlement to carer’s leave under the Fair Work Act 2009 in Australia.

Think of the carer’s leave certificate as a formal note from a health professional confirming that the personal leave is justified because your presence is necessary for the well-being of your loved one.

At Instant Consult, we understand the importance of this responsibility. That’s why we’ve made it easier and more accessible for you to obtain a Carer’s Certificate. Through our platform, you can connect with Australian medical practitioners via video consultation, from anywhere in the country.

No need to rush to a doctor’s office or wait for your doctor’s appointment. You can have a chat with an AHPRA-accredited Australian doctor right from your living room, your backyard, or wherever is convenient for you. We have doctors available from 6 AM to midnight AEST every day, including public holidays.

Just download our app, hop on a quick video call and if all’s in order, you can have your carer certificate on your Instant Consult inbox in a matter of minutes. We make it easier for you so you can focus on what really matters – giving your loved one that extra bit of care and love they need. After all, we all know there’s no place like home for getting better!

  2. Multi-Day Certificate: If the person you’re caring for has an illness or condition that requires extended full-time care, a multi-day certificate is appropriate. This type of certificate covers a longer period. However, it’s rare to get a certificate that covers more than three days of leave.

Your child/dependant must be present during the consult in order to be properly assessed by the doctor.

As long as you are their carer/guardian, it does not matter what the age of the patient is.
